Child's Garland of Music, BR154 Composers
down the ages have written music for children to listen to and for children to
play. In her new CD, A Child's Garland of Music, Malinee Peris has selected music
which is filled with the wonderment of childhood. Malinee
Peris, prize-winner at Warsaws International Chopin Competition, has made
several concert appearances through the world. She has played with American orchestras,
including the Washington National Symphony, the Baltimore and Houston Symphony
orchestras, and with orchestras in Europe, Israel and Australia. She has also
performed at Avery Fisher Hall in New Yorks Lincoln Center and the Filene
Center of Wolf Trap, Virginia. In 1982, Ms. Peris toured China
and gave recitals in Beijing, Shanghai and other mainland cities. Following these
were tours of the former Soviet Union, Czechoslovakia, Bulgaria, and Yugoslavia.
In 1983 she was invited to play at the Prague Spring Festival. Ms.
Peris is currently Associate Professor of Music at the George Washington University
in Washington, DC, serves on the Board of Directors of the Dumbarton Concert
Series and reviews concerts for the Washington Post. | |
