“I am a relative newcomer
to BriosoRecordings®... yesterday I got BR 100. This is
a truly revelatory performance of the Beethoven cello sonatas...
Metzmacher is to the cello what Backhaus was to the piano.
Rock solid, very musical, deeply humane. I knew Steen-Nokleberg
from his series of Grieg's piano works on Naxos, and he
is once again in top form here. This goes right to the top,
alongside Piatigorsky/ Solomon.”
